Reclaim Your Time: A Step-by-Step Guide

~ by Kait K

"Eeeek! Help! I'm Drowning in Tasks!"

Does your to-do list look more like a never-ending avalanche? You're not alone. Have you heard of the latest buzz word: micro-outsourcing? This is where you hand off specific tasks to specialists to lighten your load. Let’s dive a little deeper into how this works.

If you're running your own business, chances are you're doing everything: editing videos, managing social media, sending invoices, project managing, handling sales calls, and even pitching new work. Sound familiar?

The truth is, outsourcing to specialists can free up your time so you can focus on what you're really good at—your zone of genius.

Here’s how to get started:

1️⃣ List.

Grab a pen or open a doc. Write down every single task you’re responsible for—content creation, marketing, analytics, reporting, accounting, customer support, sales… you get the idea. Get it all out!

2️⃣ Prioritise.

Look at your list and think about each task's impact on your business. Which tasks could benefit from a specialist's touch? Ask yourself: How much value does this task bring? and Is this a skill set I should be spending time mastering?

3️⃣ Grow.

Once you've identified tasks to outsource, seek out skilled individuals or teams. Look beyond common freelancing platforms—check out specialised agencies or niche platforms, and don’t forget to tap into your LinkedIn network for referrals. People you trust often know the right fit.

4️⃣ Onboard.

When you find the right person, make the handoff smooth. Draft a clear brief or standard operating procedure (SOP). Share a checklist or even record a video to demonstrate your process. The more detailed the handover, the better!

5️⃣ Track.

Set up a simple project management system to track the progress of outsourced tasks. Whether it’s a spreadsheet, Notion board, or a tool like Asana or Monday.com, having a central hub will help you stay organised without feeling overwhelmed.
